Christmas Day is coming to a close. Lots of snow, good food, and fun gifts.
Can you tell we live in Minnesota? Yes, it's snowing in the picture & a pretty nice temperature outside of around 34 degrees which is warm for us in winter time. So we thought a family photo in our nice Christmas outfits would look nice outside. Click here for more pictures of our Christmas time.
We did get lots of snow, but not as much as they first predicted. I think we ended up with about 15 inches on the ground. We tried to go the a Christmas service at the Lutheran church here in town, but as we drove up to the building, we found out it was canceled. So we went for snowy Christmas drive in our 4 wheel drive Suburban. When we got back home, we took family pictures, then read the Christmas story, opened gifts, ate lunch. Elise & Eliza tooks naps while the others played with their new gifts. Then outside to play in the snow with Daddy! They even built a snowman because the snow was wet and heavy not the usual fluffy stuff we get. While they were outside I did some more meal preparations for our Christmas dinner.
We had 6 other people over for Christmas dinner & here's the list of what we had:
Mulled Cider
Peppernuts
Ham
Mashed potatoes
Scalloped Corn
Green bean casserole
Raspberry Applesauce Jello
Frog Eye salad
Homemade wheat bread
Kolache (a guest brought some to share)
Apple Pie
Pecan Pie
Pumpkin Pie
Lemon Meringue Pie
I had fun baking pies yesterday & today it was fun preparing the rest of the Christmas feast.
Tomorrow we plan on going shopping (not our favorite thing to do). We want to try to get some things that likely will be on a good sale. Then it's off to Nebraska, after the church service on Sunday, for a Christmas visit to Tom's folks.
