Fun Day at Apple Orchard

Thursday the whole family had fun visiting a local apple orchard. At this orchard, there were lots of farm animals to see, pet, & feed. The kids' really liked it and so did Tom & I. They saw peacocks, turkeys, pot-bellied pigs, cows/calves, a variety of chickens, goats, and guineas. At the end of our visit, they even played in a bin of field corn specifically there for the kids to jump in, play in, and roll around in. Needless to say - a few kernels of corn "hitched-hiked" a ride home with us in various pockets, diapers, etc.
Go here to see pictures of our time at this orchard.

We even went on a wagon ride, where the owner/farmer showed us the various crops that he grew and even let us take home samples of most of the crops. So we got samples of flax, broom corn (Ella enjoyed sweeping the deck with it when we got home), soy beans (which the kids tasted the beans & thought it tasted pretty, probably because they were hungry), gourds (each child got to pick and take one home), and buck wheat. He grew sorghum - which when boiled down is made into molasses, and he grew cotton, and something like a sugar beet.

So definitely a fun and educational day for the whole family.
In the video clip, Elise is trying to catch a chicken.

It seems that Elise actually catches up to them and doesn't quite know what to do with her "catch."

So cute! I have watched this several times.
